Barbara Brown Jernigan
Watercolor
Barbara Brown Jernigan

“Art is an expression of the artist’s feelings about the subject.  Without emotion, a painting is simply an image, a rendering.  However skillful it may be, if the artist’s heart is not in the work, the viewer perceives that.“  B. Brown Jernigan

Barbara Brown Jernigan studied art at Georgia Southern College and with nationally famous watercolorists, Nita Engels, Skip Lawrence, Christopher Schink, Bryan Ateyo Ted Minchin and, most recently, George James.

Though she works as CEO/CFO for a local payroll and human resource provider as an accounting consultant to a number of businesses, she still devotes time to teaching watercolor, and to her own painting.  She studied art at Georgia Southern College and with nationally famous watercolorists, Nita Engels, Skip Lawrence, Christopher Schink, Bryan Ateyo Ted Minchin and, most recently, George James

She is President of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, a member of the Watauga Art League, Kingsport Art Guild, Florida Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society,  National League of American Pen Women, and serves as co-chairman of the annual Newell Hendershot Watermedia Exhibition.   In 2011, she received the YWCA Tribute to Women Award.  She exhibits  in local, state, S.E. regional and national watercolor shows.
