Nancy DeArmond Gentry

Nancy DeArmond Gentry

Nancy Gentry is a life – long resident of Unicoi County. After graduating from Unicoi County High School, she attended and graduated from Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Georgia. She majored in math which she taught for 25 years at Unicoi County High School.

Upon retirement, she furthered her interest in art by taking instruction from Polly Newell, Johnny Lynch and Urban Bird. She also attended workshops taught by Tony Couch, William B. (Skip) Lawrence, Janet Walsh, and Neil Mooney.

She was married to the late Frank T. Gentry, Jr. and has three children: Mary Beth Longerier, Frank T. Gentry III, and Jack DeArmond Gentry.

She is a member of Erwin Presbyterian Church, Erwin Monday Club, the Lanier Club, DAR, and Parnassus Book Club.

Her art has been shown in numerous exhibits and she has won several ribbons. Her studio is in her home where she shows by appointment. She paints in both watercolor and oils.
